National Language Amendment Act/Welfare Reform/A-List Celebrities

National Language Amendment Act

by Senator Lindsey Graham                                                         12/20/2011    11:00 a.m.

By voting ‘yes’ on the National Language Amendment Act, I believe that it is imperative to the citizens of the United States that we make English the official language.   In doing so, we will not only save money by only legally being required to print official documents in English, but it also serves as a higher standard for those living and working in our country.  Studies and polls have shown that 91% of the citizens of the United States of American would like English to be the official Language.  Polls also show the 76% of the Hispanic population would like this Act to pass as well.  I believe that having an official language not only will help bring sovereignty to our country, it will help with the communication barriers that exist today in many parts of America.

Welfare Reform Act

by Senator Lindsey Graham                                                            12/20/2011  11:36 a.m.

I am proud to be one of the co-sponsors of the Welfare Reform Act.  It is no secret that the welfare system in America is in complete and utter shambles.  Over the past two decade the welfare spending as increased by 292%!  Not only is this number unbelievable, it is also unsustainable for us to keep spending at this kind of pace.  The Welfare Reform Act of 2011 will work to save more than 2.43 trillion dollars over the next ten years by slowly reducing the cost of seventy-seven welfare programs.

Do A-List Celebrities Belong on the Campaign Trail

by Lindsey Graham                                                                  12/20/2011    11:59 a.m.

So called “A-List Celebrities” are popping up everywhere these days trying to put their opinion and spin on issues in the government.  I feel that it is important for all American citizens to enjoy their First Amendment rights and have freedom of speech.  Many of these celebrities are out there spewing a lot of untruth information and are endorsing certain candidates hoping for support on their own causes.  These celebrities have a lot of weight in many peoples eyes, and we know that they have plenty of money to throw around to pursue the pushing of their own agenda.  For this reason I do not believe that it would be beneficial to the people that have voted for me and expect me to represent their wishes to bring these celebrities on the campaign trail or to accept their donations/endorsements.

I ACCEPT your Nomination!

I would like to take a moment to send my thanks and appreciation to the people of South Carolina who have put their faith and trust in me to represent them in the United State Congress.  I look forward to bringing the issues that are important to you to the floor and I will work hard to make you proud.  Over the next six years I plan to work on the Welfare Reform Act of 2011 and help ensure that help is available to those who need it, and also to help many get back to work and away from the welfare system which will save the American taxpayer trillions of dollars over the next ten years.  I am also passionate about English becoming the official language of the United States.  It is with great pleasure and deep gratitude that I thank you for your support and I look forward to heading back to work after the Christmas break.

Remember that I am here to push the issues that matter most to you.  Please contact me at  http://lgraham.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=Home.Home  if you have any questions or concerns.

Yours truly,

Lindsey Graham
